At some point in your life you’ve had your heart broken. It’s the common thread that unites all, that and unicorns. Everyone loves unicorns. Each of our lives are peppered with an episode or three of gut wrenching, nail chewing, ice-cream binging despair sparked by another’s indifference. There is no immunity to the fever of an unrequited crush. Everyone has had their hopes dashed by one who got away. Even after moving on, when hindsight provides us with perspective, and fate delivers the one we’re meant to be with, the muscle memory of that clenched heart is remembered.
But isn’t there something deliciously dramatic about remembering that feeling? Reveling, even if for only a moment, in that emotional space is like holding your breath underwater. Come up for air and your lungs will burn a little, but like the spicy pistachio-colored wasabi next to your tuna roll, you enjoy the tingly sensation.
Listen to this song. Hold your breath. Let the feeling wash over your lips.
Adele’s latest album releases on Tuesday. I pre-ordered it about a month ago. I’m a little obsessed with Adele’s voice and her make-up. Now run to CVS for some false eyelashes. You’ll need a bold flirty eye cause you’re about to dance to the BEST break-up song. LIKE. EVER.
