About Me
Hello! My name is Brandy. I was named after the song, which, I suppose, makes me a fine girl and a good wife, but unlike the Brandy from the song I've never stolen a sailor from the sea. Although to be fair, I've never tried. Instead, I steal moments. With my camera. I record beauty, truth and laughter. I narrate visual stories.
I love dahlias and dance music, analog and Austen, french press and Felini. I couldn't live without red lipstick, but there is no make-up better than the flush of love. Kittens make my voice rise an octave. I like my wine like my friends' wit: dry and abundant. Fish tacos would be my last chosen meal on Earth.
About Modern Toile
Toile (pronounced twahl) literally means canvas. Back in the day, illustrations of people and pastoral scenes were used to decorate fabric. This pattern was called Toile. It struck me as significant that humans have always found ways to depict themselves. That depiction is, in itself, inherently human. Now, we have cameras to record moments. These moments become tangibles to be held and admired. As a result they, in turn, transcend time. Modern Toile was the perfect name for my photography business. It represents not only the surface in which images are displayed, but also why I photograph: to stop time, to remember, and to cherish loved ones.
