Travel Journal :: Modern Toile Photography

I just wanted to share another image from Paris seeing as today is Bastille Day. Our hotel was in walking distance from where the famous prison once stood. Now it’s an Opera House, controversial for it’s architecture. Apparently, Parisians are opinionated. They also didn’t like the Eiffel Tower when it was built. Go figure. The Eiffel Tower was impressive, it’s seriously, seriously tall. So beautiful. Dang, now I’m craving macaroons.

Have you seen Midnight in Paris? We saw it on the last day of our trip at a theater on the Champs Elysees. The theater was down from the brand new Abercrombie & Fitch. Outside the gate, a flurry of attention was being paid to the gaggle of male models. They were wearing Rugby shirts, but they probably could’ve been goaded into removing them. No, I didn’t take photos. A bunch of blue haired ladies did. Can you imagine? I don’t care how hot the guys were and trust me, THEY WERE. I wasn’t about to jockey for position to get their photo. That felt too, too silly. Plus, I’m pretty sure those ladies would have smacked me with a cane if I’d stepped into their shot. It was unintentionally funny.

So, yesterday I mentioned our house buying situation. The bidding war has ended in our favorite. Yay! I can’t wait to move in. The house has a small greenhouse that is just begging for an orchid. I’ve heard they’re very hard to grow, but they’re always so tempting on sale at Trader Joe’s. My mother filled our house with plants. She did not pass down her green thumb. Remembering to water them is my challenge. I see house plants as the mark of a true adult. I’m ready to be a big girl.
